U-20 Ladies 2600m 1:00pm
Mary-Ann O’Sullivan (Tinryland)
O’Sullivan is the current All-Ireland under 19 cross country champion. She was also runner up in this year’s Irish schools cross country championships and All-Ireland junior 800 metres on the track. She was eighth in the first running of the AB Travel Ballyfin Junior Cross, fourth in last year’s event and will be looking to break into the top three this year. Her form this year suggests she will be challenging for the top spot.
Siobhan McGinley (Celtic DCH)
McGinley is the current under 18 All-Ireland 1500m and 2000m steeplechase champion and was third in the All-Ireland junior 1500m. She has represented Ireland in the steeplechase at the Celtic Games for the last two years, winning the bronze medal on both occasions. This will be her first exposure to the AB Travel Ballyfin Junior Cross but she looks to be more than ready to mix it in the hunt for the considerable prize money on offer.
Mary Mulhare (North Laois)
Mulhare has a strong record in this event having finished 2nd last year and 1st in the inaugural running of the event in 2009. She was a member of the Irish team for the European championships in 2009 and she will be aiming to make the team again this year. Having come 2nd in the under 19 All-Ireland championships and 5th in the Celtic junior international earlier in the year she has shown her cross country form is there. Second place finishes over 1500m at the Irish Schools and All-Ireland Junior Championships and a national title in the under 19 800m ensured she had a successful track season. A perennial favourite at the AB Travel Ballyfin Junior-Cross, Mulhare is always a contender.
Shauna Moore (Dunshaughlin)
Moore was third at this year’s All-Ireland Inter-Club championships and a repeat performance at the inter-counties would see her make the Irish team for the European cross country championships. Prior to her inter-clubs bronze she had come 4th in the under 19 championships and 11th in the junior race at the Celtic International. This year will be her first appearance at the AB Travel Ballyfin Junior-Cross.
Imogen Cotter (Ennis Track)
Cotter comes into this year’s AB Travel Ballyfin Junior-Cross on the back of a breakthrough track season. Having finished 4th in the Irish schools 3000m, she went on the take national titles in the under 19 3000m and junior 5000m. She will be hoping to take this good form into the cross country season.
